This purse is a very pretty and stylish bag for just about anyone. You don’t need a lot of fabric to put it together so grab from your stash and get started! The Juliet has a lovely coordinating or contrasting bow, whichever you wish, that wraps around the top of the bag and ties in the front. The interior has two pockets and you may also add an optional magnetic snap closure to the top. No expert sewing skills are needed to put this cute purse together so if you have been itching to try out that new sewing machine, or maybe just a new project, this would be a great class for you! The pattern can be purchased for approximately $10.00 at "The Quilter’s Dream quilt shop here in Willimantic. Hope you can join our class!

Materials

  • Juliet purse pattern
  • 1 1/4 yards of fabric for exterior bag and handles
  • 3/4 yard of fabric for the cuff and pockets
  • 1 yard of fabric for bag lining and tie
  • 1 1/4 yard fusible fleece
  • Coordinating thread
  • Marking pencil
  • Sewing machine in good working order
  • Misc. sewing supplies

Cutting

When you purchase your pattern, there will be a couple of pattern pieces included that will take very little time to cut out, but here are the other cutting instructions that are also required.

  • From fabric for exterior bag and handles:
  • Cut 2, 13 X 25 inch rectangles
  • Cut 2, 5 X 33 inch strips
  • From fabric for cuff and pockets:
  • Cut 4, 4 1/4 X 16 inch rectangles
  • Cut 4, 7 X 13 inch rectangles
  • From fabric for bag lining and tie:
  • Cut 2, 7 1/2 X 30 inch strips
  • Cut 2, 12 X 18 inch rectangles

From these rectangles:

Cut 2 pieces using pattern piece B (when you get pattern)

  • From fusible fleece:
  • Cut 2, 13 X 25 inch rectangles for exterior bag
  • Cut 2, 5 X 33 inch strips for handles
  • Cut 2, 4 1/4 ¼ X 16 inch rectangles for cuff
  • Cut 2, 7 X 13 inch rectangles for pockets

According to the manufacturer’s instructions, fuse the fleece onto the wrong sides of:

  • 2 exterior bag rectangles
  • 2 handle strips
  • 2 cuff rectangles
  • 2 pocket rectangles
